Microsoft has kicked off 2025 with its first Xbox Game Pass lineup announcement. Although leaks and rumors had already set expectations for January, subscribers now have the official details on the new additions and departures for this month. Just one week into the new year, and it's already shaping up to be another thrilling period for Xbox Game Pass users.
While this marks the first new game lineup reveal of 2025, it's not the first significant announcement for the service this year. Microsoft previously introduced changes to Xbox Game Pass, such as age restrictions and revamped rewards systems. These changes are now in effect, perfectly timed with the release of the first batch of new games.
On January 7, 2025, Microsoft unveiled seven new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass on the official Xbox blog. Road 96, a choice-driven game from 2021, is immediately available across all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. Although it had previously been available on the platform, Road 96 was removed in June 2023 before its return was announced in December 2024. The remaining six games in the January lineup are scheduled to be released later in the month, with most arriving on January 8 and two on January 14.
Earlier leaks hinted at the inclusion of Diablo and UFC 5, and those rumors have now been confirmed with specific release dates. However, not all subscribers will have access to these titles. Diablo will be exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, while UFC 5 is reserved for Ultimate subscribers only. The other games in the lineup are accessible with a Standard subscription, including the sci-fi game Lightyear Frontier, which is currently in early access.
Starting January 7, new Game Pass Ultimate perks are also available, including a weapon charm for Apex Legends and DLC packs for First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. Alongside the new arrivals, a few games are set to leave Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft has officially confirmed that the following six titles will depart on January 15:
These announcements cover only the first half of January, so Xbox fans should keep an eye out for the upcoming lineup reveal for the rest of the month and beyond.
