Xbox Games Series: Top to Bottom Ranking

After a strong Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, Microsoft's future looks bright with its impressive array of first-party studios. But which Xbox game series excites you the most? Which one provided you with the most enjoyment during the glory days of the Xbox 360? Or, if you've never owned an Xbox console, which series are you eagerly anticipating on other platforms like PlayStation, as Microsoft seems set on expanding its library to the world?

With Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, there's no shortage of legendary game series to choose from. This tier list includes any series associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided there's been more than one entry in the series—sorry, MachineGames and Indiana Jones! We'll need a sequel before you can join the ranks. Keep in mind that this isn't an exhaustive list of all Xbox game series, but it covers the most relevant and historically impactful ones. Here's my personal tier list, based entirely on my enjoyment over the years:

Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List

For me, Doom easily earns an S-tier spot. The recent entries rank among my favorite first-person shooters, and I'm thrilled that Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is maintaining its high standards. Forza Horizon also secures an S-tier position, as these games, perhaps only rivaled by Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, are the best racing games I've ever experienced. Halo sits in the A tier, which might surprise some. While Halo 2 and 3 are among the finest campaign shooters ever made, recent inconsistencies prevent me from placing it in the top bracket. I'm also more of a Fallout fan than an Elder Scrolls enthusiast—I'd choose a set of power armor over a dragon any day!
