Prominent YouTube content creator Corey Pritchett is currently facing serious allegations of two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Authorities report that the YouTube personality left the country shortly after the charges were filed, leaving many of his followers in shock as details of the allegations surfaced online.
For those who may not know him, Corey Pritchett is a well-known content creator and social media personality from the United States, celebrated for his engaging and relatable online presence. He began his YouTube journey in 2016, focusing on family vlogs, challenges, and pranks. Although not among the most followed YouTubers, Corey has cultivated a significant following, with his main channel, "CoreySSG," amassing around 4 million subscribers. His second channel, "CoreySSG Live," has also grown to over 1 million subscribers. One of his standout videos, "LET’S HAVE A BABY PRANK," has attracted over 12 million views.
Corey Pritchett is now facing serious charges following an alleged kidnapping incident on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston, contributing to the increasing number of kidnapping cases involving content creators. According to ABC13, two women, aged 19 and 20, met him at a gym and spent the day engaging in activities such as ATV riding and bowling. However, their day took a terrifying turn when Pritchett reportedly threatened them at gunpoint, drove at high speeds on I-10, and confiscated their phones, claiming he intended to kill them. The women later reported to authorities that Pritchett appeared anxious, believing someone was after him, and mentioned accusations of setting a car on fire.
After stopping his vehicle, Pritchett allegedly gave the women one chance to escape, leading them to walk for over an hour until they found a passerby who helped them contact the police. On December 26, 2024, Pritchett was charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, but he had already fled the country. Authorities confirmed with the FBI that he flew to Doha, Qatar, on December 9 with a one-way ticket and is now reportedly in Dubai. From there, he uploaded a video mocking the warrants, claiming he was "on the run" and making light of his actions. Meanwhile, former YouTube streamer Johnny Somali faces jail time, though his case is unrelated, as he deals with potential new charges in South Korea.
The outcome of Pritchett's case remains uncertain, and it is unclear whether the YouTuber plans to surrender to US authorities. However, it's worth noting that in 2023, renowned YouTuber YourFellowArab was kidnapped for ransom in Haiti, though he was eventually released. He later shared footage of his harrowing experience with a Haitian gang, giving his followers a chilling glimpse into his ordeal.
