Zelda Speedrunner Beats Final Boss in Under 10 Minutes at Nintendo Switch 2 Event

A speedrunner of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild achieved an astonishing feat by completing the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the critically acclaimed RPG in just 10 minutes at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan. Japanese content creator Ikaboze, as reported by VGC, tackled the challenge using an existing save file without prior knowledge of Link's equipment. With a bold strategy to "defeat the final boss while tied up completely naked and with all my equipment removed," Ikaboze launched into the final showdown with Ganon. Remarkably, within seven minutes, Ganon was defeated, prompting spontaneous applause from the onlookers.

The accomplishment was especially impressive considering Ikaboze used an unfamiliar controller and couldn't hear the game over the convention hall's noise. Reflecting on the event, Ikaboze remarked, “I was surprised by how many people had gathered. Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me."

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Current Switch owners of Breath of the Wild can upgrade to these new features with a $10 "upgrade pack." Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are also available at no additional cost for Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers.
