Sueca, a captivating point-trick card game, enjoys widespread popularity in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Macao, Mozambique, Nagasaki, and Goa. This multiplayer game pits two teams of two players against each other in a battle of wits and strategy.
The goal in Sueca is simple: win the most tricks. The game uses a 40-card deck (a standard 52-card deck minus the 8s, 9s, and 10s). Card ranking, from highest to lowest, is: Ace, 7 (known as "manilha" in Portuguese), King (K), Jack (J), Queen (Q), 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Point values are: Ace (11), 7 (10), King (4), Jack (3), Queen (2), with the remaining cards worth 0 points.
Winning a trick earns you the point total of the cards in that trick. Crucially, the highest card of the trump suit always wins!
A two-player variation, Bisca, shares strong similarities with Sueca and is also included in this app.
