Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to predict the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in a round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw papers of the same type. The player who throws the matching paper wins the trick ("Bamh"). If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they have the option to declare "Tarneeb." "Tarneeb" papers are superior to all other paper types, and the player who throws the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins, unless another player throws an even stronger one.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Points are tallied. A team only scores if they meet or exceed their bid for the number of "Allmat" they predicted. If successful, they add the number of "Allmat" won to their score. If they fail, the number of "Allmat" they won is added to their opponent's score, and the bidding team loses points.
If a team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, they gain 16 points. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, they earn 26 points. If they bid for 13 tricks and fail, they lose 16 points. The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more, and that team is declared the winner.
