EDR "Blackbox" Scan Tool & Accident Report PDF for Crash Investigators
WHEN INVESTIGATING VEHICLE COLLISIONS
Utilize the CrashScan App with the OBDLink MX+ Bluetooth adapter to scan vehicle computer modules, including supported Event Data Recorders (EDRs/"blackbox"). CrashScan helps investigators identify, capture and interpret stored collision data, which can validate insurance claims and indicate potential liability issues.
VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY
(Event Data Recorder & Full System Diagnostic Scan Support)
Internationally supports over 3000 year/make/model combinations. Verify compatibility at:

DETAILED CRASH REPORTS
Successful scans generate reports containing:
- Impact severity classification (minor/moderate/severe)
- Impact direction (front/rear/side collision)
- EDR activation thresholds
- 5-second pre-crash data:
- Vehicle speed
- Brake/accelerator application
- Steering inputs
- Occupant count and seatbelt status
- Estimated repair costs
- Structural damage probability
- Injury risk assessment including:
- Whiplash potential
- Injury duration estimates
*Injury risk calculations use stored acceleration data combined with scientific research including NASS database metrics.
