MAME4droid: Your Android Arcade Emulator
MAME4droid, developed by D. Valdeita, brings the classic arcade experience to your Android device. This Android port of MAME 0.37b5 (based on GP2X and WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5) emulates over 2000 ROMs, though performance will vary depending on the game and your device's capabilities. Older devices may experience limitations.
Key Features:
- Emulates a wide range of arcade games from MAME 0.37b5 and beyond.
- Supports Android 2.1 and higher, including Honeycomb tablets with 2D hardware acceleration.
- Offers customizable controls, including hardware key remapping, a touchscreen controller (with options for digital or analog input, animated joystick, and DPAD), and support for external controllers like iCade and Wiimotes (via a third-party app).
- Provides adjustable settings for video aspect ratio, scaling, rotation, CPU and audio clock speeds, and more. Performance optimization tips include lowering sound quality, reducing bit depth, underclocking CPUs, and disabling animations.
Getting Started:
After installation, place your MAME-titled zipped ROMs in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms
folder. Note that MAME4droid uses only MAME4droid & iMAME4all ROM sets ('0.37b5', 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11'). Use the included clrmame.dat
file and ClrMAME Pro (http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/) to convert ROMs from other MAME versions.
Important Notes:
- Save states are not supported.
- Performance may vary significantly; some games may run better than others, and some may not run at all. Please do not contact the developer requesting support for specific games.
