Arrowhead Studios Teases New Project After Helldivers 2 Success

Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.

Community suggestions ranged widely, including a Smash TV remake and various Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed prior internal consideration of a Smash TV remake and even mentioned a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.

While specifics remain under wraps, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.

A recent Helldivers 2 update, including the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, the 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The update, "Omens of Tyranny," was a surprise release at the 2024 Game Awards, and initial player response has been enthusiastic.

This update has undeniably delighted Helldivers 2 players. Coupled with rumors of a Killzone crossover, the game appears poised for continued success in 2025.
