Following a trend among gacha games, ASTRA: Knights of Veda will be removing its English voiceovers after maintenance on January 23, 2025. This decision, announced by developer FLINT, aims to improve game stability and enhance localization quality.

The January 23rd maintenance will also remove support for German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. However, Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian will remain. While English text will still be available, in-game voice acting will default to Japanese for regions outside of Korea. FLINT assures players this change won't affect in-game chat functionality.

This move follows similar decisions by other gacha game developers. Square Enix's War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games' Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games' Snowbreak: Containment Zone have all either partially or completely removed English voiceovers, citing reasons such as prioritizing the dominant player language or managing resource allocation.

The long-term costs of maintaining English voice acting for continuously updated gacha games are significant. By refocusing resources, developers aim to ensure the game's continued growth and improvement in other areas. While this change may disappoint some English-speaking players, it reflects a broader industry trend towards optimizing language support based on player base and resource management.
