Avowed: A Solo Fantasy Adventure – No Multiplayer Here
Avowed has been compared to Skyrim, but its gameplay is more akin to Obsidian's The Outer Worlds. A common question arises: Does Avowed offer multiplayer capabilities? The answer is a definitive no.
While you'll encounter companions throughout your journey, these are non-player characters (NPCs), mirroring the structure of The Outer Worlds. Forget about co-op gameplay or player-versus-player (PvP) battles; Avowed is a strictly solo experience. There are no invasion modes or any other multiplayer features planned. This decision, however, wasn't always the case.

Avowed's Abandoned Multiplayer Plans
Initially, Obsidian Entertainment intended to incorporate co-op functionality into Avowed. This feature was even used to attract investors. However, during development, the decision was made to cut multiplayer, citing a focus on other aspects of the game. While this might disappoint some, the single-player experience remains substantial.
The Future of Avowed Multiplayer: Mods and Beyond
Currently, there's no publicly known co-op mod for Avowed, though the possibility remains. Creating such a mod would be a significant undertaking. Even Skyrim's popular co-op mod arrived years after its initial release. Obsidian has also confirmed that they have no plans to add multiplayer post-launch.
In short, Avowed is a single-player game. No multiplayer, co-op, or PvP is available, nor is it planned for future updates.
