- Bearplane lives up to its name - literally
- Become a bear strapped to rocket propulsion
- Beautiful vintage 1940s setting with swinging big-band soundtrack
Occasionally, history reveals something wonderfully peculiar - that's exactly what indie developer Matthew Burton discovered when creating Bearplane. This aptly named arcade shooter lets you control (you guessed it) a flying bear. Though technically, you're not riding a plane - you are the plane, as a grizzly literally harnessed to rockets with pure brute force.
Your mission: Clear the skies by either smashing into foes, toasting them with flames, or unleashing ear-splitting roars that make enemies burst apart. All this carnage unfolds with your bear grinning ear-to-ear while a delightfully jazzy swing soundtrack sets the mood - so infectious you'll wish it was available on music platforms.
The game draws inspiration from an actual WWII hero - Wojtek, a brown bear who served in the Polish army. Astonishingly, this furry soldier even earned the rank of Corporal.
When the action gets intense, call upon Rocket Rat for local co-op assistance. After all, airborne animals pack double the destructive power.
