Confronting the enigmatic Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds: A Strategic Guide
While pursuing the elusive dragon, you'll encounter a fierce battle with Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds. This enraged beast seeks to eliminate your hunting party. This guide provides strategies for victory.
Recommended Strategies
Rey Dau, the first dragon encountered, possesses lightning elemental properties, rendering it invulnerable to lightning-based attacks. However, it's highly susceptible to ice and water damage. Prioritize attacks to its head (4-star weakness) or wings (3-star weakness). Avoid its robust torso and well-protected legs. Utilize status effects, excluding stun and paralysis.
Tactical Maneuvers
Flash Pods: Employ flash pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for significant damage. Capitalize on this stun during its lightning attack, targeting its horns (glowing red in Focus Mode).
Elemental Resistance: Equip gear enhancing elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill (damage reduction and resistance to lightning and fire), is highly recommended. Consider consuming food boosting elemental resistance.
Strategic Positioning: If dodging proves challenging, maintain proximity to Rey Dau's legs. Its primary attacks target areas in front and behind it.
Environmental Awareness: Rey Dau's flight patterns allow for tactical exploitation. Utilize vine traps located on lone trees in the open plains to briefly stun it. Exercise caution near its nest, where a powerful follow-up lightning attack poses a significant threat.
Capture Method
Capturing Rey Dau yields valuable rewards. Reduce its health to near-death (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap). Deploy a Pitfall Trap followed immediately by a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is critical; act swiftly to prevent escape. Note that Shock Traps are ineffective against this lightning dragon.
