Monster Hunter Wilds simplifies many series mechanics, minimizing the need for extensive monster tracking. However, one exception remains: the Black Flame. Here's how to locate it.
Around the midpoint of Monster Hunter Wilds' main story, Chapter 3 introduces the Black Flame, which briefly appears before retreating to the Oilwell Basin. Your mission: find and defeat it.
Exit Base Camp and head towards Zone 9 of the Oilwell Basin (see map below).

Along the way, you'll discover tar tracks. Examining them reveals the Black Flame's trail, automatically guiding your scoutflies. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies in Zone 9, leading you to a giant flaming crater and the Black Flame.
The Black Flame (also known as Nu Udra) is a tentacled beast wielding fire-based attacks. Prioritize severing a few tentacles to ease the fight and expose vulnerable points for increased material acquisition.
To combat the region's intense heat, carry several Cool Drinks to prevent continuous health depletion.
That's how to find the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds. Check out The Escapist for more game tips, including Palico language changes and monster capture strategies.
