Crunchyroll Releases Kardboard Kings, a Card Shop and Collector Simulator

Crunchyroll's Android library just got a whole lot more exciting with the addition of Kardboard Kings, a charming single-player card shop management game. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this gem from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has now made its way to mobile devices, exclusively available for Crunchyroll members.

What's the Kardboard Kings Craze All About?

Step into the shoes of Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop—a legacy built on a passion for collecting and mastery of the legendary card game, Warlock. Harry's not alone in this venture; he's got Giuseppe, a quick-witted cockatoo business partner with an uncanny knack for spotting a great deal. Together, they'll navigate the bustling seaside card shop, striving to satisfy customers (or perhaps, pull off a few mischievous scams for extra profit!).

Expect a cast of quirky characters, witty dialogue peppered with card game and anime references, and over 100 uniquely illustrated cards, including shiny variants.

Gameplay: More Than Just Buy Low, Sell High

While the core concept of buying low and selling high remains, Kardboard Kings adds layers of strategic depth. Card conditions, set rarities, foil finishes, and even ability popularity all impact a card's value, requiring shrewd assessment and market savvy.

The game also features a roguelite deckbuilding mode on Card Game Island, where you'll face challenging duelists, host tournaments, throw booster pack parties, and manage clearance sales to keep your inventory fresh.
