Idris Elba Pitches Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has publicly expressed his strong desire for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film featuring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he also shares the screen with Reeves), Elba enthusiastically stated that a live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 would be incredible, particularly with himself and Reeves reprising their roles. He envisioned the pairing of their characters as something truly "Whoa."

This isn't just wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is indeed developing a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project in collaboration with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce a year after the announcement, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the ongoing live-action The Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is a strong possibility.

For those unfamiliar, Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, while Elba starred as Solomon Reed in the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Beyond the live-action film, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched its first chapter in several languages, including Japanese, Polish, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. A Traditional Chinese version is slated for December 20th, with an English release date yet to be announced. The manga will focus on Rebecca and Pilar, before their involvement with Maine's crew. Furthermore, a Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is planned for 2025, and CDPR has also teased a new animated series.
