Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly enhanced the gameplay by introducing numerous crafting materials, including the valuable Dark Fragments. These are crucial for crafting high-tier accessories, making their acquisition a priority for any serious player.
Dark Fragments are exclusively obtained from Dark-elemental Pals found on Feybreak Island. This is region-specific; Pals of the same elemental type in other areas will not yield Dark Fragments. Many Pals on the outer beaches and gravel areas are ground or water types, requiring inland exploration to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some Pals, such as Starryon, are primarily nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.
Capturing or defeating these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. The drop is not guaranteed, but diligent hunting of Dark Pals will provide a sufficient supply.
The following Dark-elemental Pals yield Dark Fragments. Keep in mind that boss and predator variants exist in various Feybreak locations:
While less reliable, single Dark Fragments can randomly appear on the ground across Feybreak. Thorough exploration is encouraged, though remember that frequent combat will deplete ammo, potentially impacting other challenges like the Bjorn Tower Boss fight.
Dark Fragments, though sometimes challenging to acquire, are not used in a vast array of recipes. They are primarily components in specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for the player character.
The following items require Dark Fragments. Remember to unlock the schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points and ensure you have the necessary machines and resources:
