The DOOM community's inventive spirit shines through again! A recent feat saw NyanSatan successfully running the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, surprisingly, boasts its own iOS-based firmware and a processor clocking up to 168 MHz.
NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware, then executed the game, utilizing a MacBook for data transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration surfaced: DOOM: The Dark Ages. This version prioritizes accessibility, allowing players to significantly customize the experience. Demon aggression can be toned down in the settings, a key feature in the game's design philosophy. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer unprecedented customization compared to previous id Software titles.
Executive producer Marty Stratton highlighted the accessibility focus. Players can adjust enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even broader aspects like game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timings.
Stratton also confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't necessary to understand the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal.
