A Decade in the Making
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has been a long and complex process, marked by delays spanning nearly a decade. Development commenced in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, resulting in resource reallocation and significant project delays. The initial design, originally codenamed "Joplin," was also incompatible with the company's evolving live-service strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the numerous challenges, the wait is almost over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your journey to Thedas—it's about to begin!
