Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers quick movement, traversing large battlefields to aid officers and secure victory often necessitates faster travel.
This is where your mount proves invaluable, summonable at any time within the overworld or during battles. Engage in combat from horseback for swift hit-and-run tactics. Here's how to acquire your first horse, improve its abilities, and switch between different mounts.
A free mount awaits in Chapter 1! Speak to a merchant encountered in the overworld after completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle. He'll be located northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp, near his horse. He'll gift you the steed upon conversation, automatically equipping it.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if unused, excluding skirmishes. Missions (marked with a red diamond containing a soldier icon) provide medium-length battles for XP accumulation. XP gain is influenced by battle duration, riding time, and enemy charges. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each horse at specific intervals.
Your initial mount is automatically equipped, but others are available. Access the Battle Preparation menu; the mount selection is the last option on the left. Each horse possesses unique advantages; some are inherently faster and superior. Maximize regional peace to unlock new mounts as rewards at nearby waypoints.
