The Unexpected FIFA and eFootball Alliance
This partnership is particularly noteworthy given the long-standing rivalry. Recall that EA and FIFA ended their decade-long collaboration in 2022 due to a significant disagreement over licensing fees.
FIFA's request for a $1 billion four-year licensing fee, a substantial increase from the previous $150 million, led to the breakdown of negotiations. This resulted in EA releasing EA Sports FC 24 in 2023 without the FIFA branding. Now, FIFA has found a new partner in Konami's eFootball for the FIFAe World Cup 2024.
