Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, launching January 21st, 2025, addresses concerns regarding the acquisition of high-demand items from the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The core change allows players to convert excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 into Clouddark Demimateria 2, facilitating purchases of sought-after rewards like the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount. While the exact exchange rate remains unannounced, this adjustment aims to improve accessibility to these items, which currently require a substantial amount of Clouddark Demimateria 2 (49 and 75 respectively). The ability to trade these items on the Market Board will also influence their pricing post-patch.

Introduced in Patch 7.15's Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, the current reward system, based on Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2 drops, proved challenging for many players. This prompted Square Enix to implement the exchange, highlighting their commitment to player feedback. Further adjustments to the raid's reward structure are possible based on ongoing community input, potentially impacting future raid content releases. Patch 7.16, while featuring the exchange and the Dawntrail Role Quest finale, is unlikely to include major job balance updates; those are anticipated in Patch 7.2.
