Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the final SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 6th, 2024. This marks the end of an era, as this will be the last regular SwitchArcade Round-Up by me here at TouchArcade. Although I'll have one more special feature next week with some embargoed reviews, it's bittersweet to conclude this journey. We've been through a lot over the years, and while I hoped to see the Switch through to its end with these articles, life has other plans. We're going out with a bang, featuring reviews from Mikhail and Shaun, new release summaries, and our usual sales lists. Let's dive into this final roundup together!
Imagineer's Fitness Boxing series has been a hit, and after the quirky success of Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, I was eager to see what they'd do next. Enter Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU, a collaboration that blends fitness with everyone's favorite vocaloid. Over the past few weeks, I've been testing it alongside Ring Fit Adventure, and I must say, it's impressive.
For newcomers, Fitness Boxing games use boxing and rhythm movements to get you in shape, offering daily exercises and sweat-inducing mini-games. With Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU, you get a dedicated mode for Miku's songs, adding a fun twist to your workouts. Note that this game is Joy-Con exclusive, so no Pro Controller or third-party accessories.
The game offers various difficulty settings, a free training mode, warm-ups, and tracking features with reminders. You can unlock cosmetics using earned points, enhancing the personal touch. The audio is great, but the main instructor's voice can be off-putting, leading me to adjust the volume.
Overall, Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is a solid fitness game that successfully incorporates Miku into the mix. It's best used as a complement to other exercise routines like Ring Fit Adventure. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy from sKaule and Whitethorn Games blends Metroidvania-style platforming with cooking and crafting. I was excited about this mix, but after playing it on Switch, I feel it needs more time to refine its elements.
You play as Flora, a young witch in a charming, mysterious world, aiming to cook and craft for the community. The exploration is well-executed, but backtracking can be frustrating. While the cooking and crafting are engaging, inventory and UI management could be smoother.
The game's pixel art and music are delightful, and its settings are extensive, including useful UI scaling options. Despite its potential, Magical Delicacy feels a bit undercooked, and some quality-of-life updates could make it a must-play. The Switch version runs well, with good rumble, making it ideal for handheld play.
Magical Delicacy is a promising game that blends two beloved genres but needs some polishing to shine. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
In the 16-bit era, mascot platformers were everywhere, and Aero The Acro-Bat managed to secure a sequel. While it didn't achieve lasting success, Aero The Acro-Bat 2 is still a solid platformer. The game refines the original, though it loses some of its charm in the process.
Ratalaika's new emulation wrapper for this release is a pleasant surprise, offering a tailored experience with box and manual scans, achievements, and more. The only downside is the absence of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive version. Fans of the original will enjoy this polished follow-up, and Ratalaika's effort here sets a hopeful tone for future reissues.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
The original Metro Quester was a rewarding dungeon-crawling RPG, and Metro Quester | Osaka feels like an excellent expansion. Set as a prequel in Osaka, this game introduces new dungeons, characters, and mechanics like canoe travel.
While it shares much with its predecessor, Metro Quester | Osaka offers enough new content to keep fans engaged. It's a game that rewards patience and strategic planning, perfect for those who enjoyed the original. New players might want to start here, as it builds upon an already strong foundation.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
NBA 2K25 is here with improved gameplay, a new "Neighborhood" feature, and updates to MyTEAM. If you're a fan, you'll need 53.3 GB of space on your memory card.
If you're into Darkest Dungeon-style games, Shogun Showdown offers a Japanese-inspired twist that's worth checking out.
As mentioned above, this is the refined sequel to Aero The Acro-Bat, presented with an enhanced emulation wrapper. It's the Super NES version, but fans will still be pleased.
Sunsoft returns with three unique Famicom games. Whether you're into action platformers, adventure games, or action-RPGs, this collection offers something for fans of retro gaming.

This marks the end of the SwitchArcade Round-Up and my time at TouchArcade after over eleven years. While I'll continue writing on my blog at Post Game Content and sharing exclusive content on Patreon, I'm stepping away from this type of work after twenty-six years. You can still find me on BlueSky, and if you're an executive looking to hire an experienced writer, feel free to reach out.
To all of TouchArcade's readers, I extend my deepest gratitude for being part of this journey. Your support has meant the world to me. Wishing you all happiness and joy, and as always – thanks for reading.
