Fortnite's Chapter 6 Season 1 update introduces a highly anticipated feature: using Fortnite Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings. This is just one of several additions to the game that have been well-received by fans. December 2024 saw the release of new game modes like Ballistic, LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, and Fortnite OG.
Fortnite Festival itself continues to expand, offering unique gameplay and acting as a sort of spiritual successor to Guitar Hero. Players purchase licensed music and instrument cosmetics from the Item Shop, and recently gained access to local co-op. Major artists like Snoop Dogg, Metallica, and Lady Gaga have collaborated with Epic Games to promote the mode.
Surprisingly, Epic Games has enabled the use of these previously Festival-exclusive instruments in the main battle royale mode. Players can now select microphones, guitars, and other instruments as both back blings and pickaxes. An instrument selected as a pickaxe will disappear from the back when in use, reappearing upon switching items. This update also features a significant Hatsune Miku crossover, adding new outfits and instruments.
Players can quickly access this new feature by navigating to their locker and using the new "instruments" sorting option for back blings and pickaxes. Existing instruments previously limited to back bling or pickaxe use have also been updated for Fortnite Festival integration, enhancing their functionality. This highly requested feature has been met with enthusiastic approval from the community.
The update also includes new Godzilla collaboration cosmetics. Fans can choose between pink and blue edit styles for the Godzilla outfit and unlock additional accessories like wraps, harvesters, and gliders through battle pass challenges. With a wealth of new content, Fortnite's latest update has generated considerable excitement among players.
