Stardew Valley's Creator, Eric Barone ("ConcernedApe"), Guarantees Free DLC and Updates Forever
Eric Barone, the mastermind behind the beloved farming simulator Stardew Valley, has made a heartfelt promise to his loyal fanbase: all future updates and downloadable content (DLC) will remain perpetually free.

Barone recently addressed fans on Twitter (now X), providing an update on the progress of various ports and upcoming PC updates. He acknowledged the extended development time, assuring fans that he's diligently working on the mobile port daily. He promised to share concrete news, such as release dates, as soon as they become available.
A fan commented that continued free content would alleviate any concerns about delays. In response, Barone declared, "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live." This emphatic statement cemented the assurance of free future content for Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley, initially released in 2016, is a cherished farming/RPG hybrid. Barone's commitment to consistent and significant updates is legendary, with the recent 1.6.9 update introducing three new festivals, multiple pet options, expanded home renovations, new outfits, enriched late-game content, and numerous quality-of-life improvements.
This dedication extends potentially beyond Stardew Valley, as Barone is also developing a new game, Haunted Chocolatier. However, details on this project remain scarce.
Barone's pledge underscores his deep respect and connection with his players. His bold statement, including the challenge to "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," reinforces his commitment to providing ongoing, free enrichment to a game that continues to thrive seven years after its launch.
