Acquiring the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early on. Once you reach Level 003 Code Clearance, simply visit Zakka in The Warren. Purchase it for 3,000 Entitlement Points from his inventory. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.

Utilizing the Flare Knife

The Flare Knife is a reusable combat tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This is beneficial for players who prefer Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, providing an alternative to Light Melee weapons for limb severing. However, remember it's a single-use item per operation; repurchase is necessary for subsequent missions.

To use it, lock onto a severable Abductor part. Use your Thorn to grapple onto the target area. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button mashing. Successful completion severs the limb. Be aware that Abductors might attempt to interrupt the process by leaping or crashing into obstacles.
