Helldivers Sequel Teases Return of Lethal Alien Foe

Helldivers 2's upcoming enemy additions: A new leak reveals the Impaler's return!

Recent leaks suggest the formidable Impaler, a fan-favorite enemy from the original Helldivers, is joining the enemy roster in Helldivers 2. The game already boasts a diverse range of enemies from the Terminid and Automaton factions, challenging players as they fight to liberate planets and defend Super Earth. To achieve victory and spread Managed Democracy across the galaxy, players must overcome both these established factions.

Helldivers 2's core gameplay revolves around completing Major Orders – community challenges demanding the swift elimination of enemies. Success yields Medals and Requisitions, crucial for unlocking new weapons, armor, and stratagems.

The leak, originating from IronS1ghts (a leaker with a proven track record, having previously revealed Illuminate enemy models), indicates the Impaler's model was recently added to the game's files via a recent patch. While the model itself isn't yet publicly available, its presence in the game files strongly suggests its imminent arrival.

The Impaler's Return: A Dangerous Threat

The Impaler, a menacing subterranean bug, is known for its ambush tactics. It burrows underground, using its front tentacles to attack from a distance before emerging to unleash devastating damage. Its heavily armored front necessitates precise targeting of its exposed face while it's digging. Like other Terminid enemies, it's weak against fire.

Helldivers 2's Terminid enemies are characterized by their melee attacks, often employing claws. Some are remarkably fast, and each possesses unique abilities designed to punish unprepared players. Bile Spewers, for instance, launch corrosive projectiles, while Chargers charge, inflicting knockback. While less durable than Automaton enemies, their fire vulnerability offers a strategic advantage.

The Illuminate Faction's Imminent Arrival

Further leaks hint at the impending arrival of the Illuminate faction, promising a significant expansion to the enemy roster. This faction will reportedly include enemies such as the Obelisk, Pathfinder, Summoner, Outcast, and Illusionist, each with distinctive abilities. Some are said to utilize projectile attacks, summon reinforcements, and even inflict fire damage. More details on this formidable new faction are expected soon.
