Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions this week, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed plans for a sequel to the hugely popular 2023 action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy – the year's top-selling game.
Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced its intention to develop a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter-themed action RPG that has sold over 24 million copies since its release. This confirmation came from Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels during Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, as reported by Variety.
Wiedenfels stated, "Clearly, a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is a top priority for us in the next couple of years." He further emphasized the game's significant contribution to the company's future growth.
Earlier this year, David Haddad of Warner Bros. Games highlighted the game's exceptional replayability in an interview with Variety. He noted the high number of players who have revisited the game multiple times. Haddad expressed pride not only in the sales figures and replayability but also in the game's ability to bring the Harry Potter universe to life in a fresh and engaging way for gamers.
This unique approach, according to Haddad, resonated strongly with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. He added, "That's a position usually held by established franchises' sequels, and we're incredibly proud to have achieved this."
Game8 was particularly impressed with the game's stunning visuals, calling it the most visually impressive Harry Potter experience to date. For a more detailed look at our review, please follow the link below.
