A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.

This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay elements and characters. While the game boasts 23 existing 4-star characters, many are less meta-relevant than their 5-star counterparts, often requiring significant Eidolon investment to reach their full potential. Past updates offered similar free selectors, aiding players in strengthening their 4-star rosters.

The leak, originating from prominent leaker HomDGCat, specifies the four selectable characters:

• Qingque: Quantum, Erudition
• Pela: Ice, Nihility
• Serval: Lightning, Erudition
• Asta: Fire, Harmony

While Pela and Asta remain viable support options, Qingque and Serval have been outshined by newer DPS characters. Furthermore, all four are available for purchase in the in-game store.

This selector is noteworthy given the recent trend towards a higher ratio of 5-star to 4-star character releases. With nearly 40 5-star characters and eight more anticipated with Amphoreus, plus a potential two from the upcoming Fate/Stay Night crossover, the disparity is significant. The 2.0 cycle only introduced four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). If the leak is accurate, future 4-star selectors may lack sufficient new unit options.

Despite this, Version 3.0 promises exciting additions like The Herta and Aglaea. Honkai: Star Rail recently released redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials, encouraging players to prepare for the upcoming updates.
