Destiny Child is Reborn: A New Idle RPG from Com2uS
Destiny Child, the popular mobile game initially released in 2016, is making a triumphant return. Following its "memorial" closure in September 2023, Com2uS has partnered with ShiftUp to develop a brand-new iteration of the game.
A Fresh Take on a Classic:
This isn't a simple relaunch; Com2uS is creating a completely new Destiny Child experience, this time as an idle RPG. Development is spearheaded by Com2uS's subsidiary, Tiki Taka Studio, known for their work on titles like the tactical RPG, Arcana Tactics. While retaining the beloved 2D character art and the emotional core of the original, the new game will feature a revamped gameplay system.
A Trip Down Memory Lane (For Some):
The original Destiny Child was celebrated for its charming characters and real-time battles. Before its closure, ShiftUp released a memorial version of the app, allowing former players to revisit the game's stunning character illustrations and reminisce about their cherished Childs. Access to the memorial version is restricted to players who had active accounts prior to the shutdown, requiring verification using previous game data. While lacking full gameplay, it serves as a nostalgic tribute, preserving the Childs and their classes for those who can access it. The memorial app is available on the Google Play Store, at least until the new game launches.
