Fumi Games and PlaySide Studio have unveiled new details about their upcoming title, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, a first-person shooter boasting a striking visual style inspired by 1930s cartoons. Players step into the shoes of private investigator Jack Pepper, navigating a world brimming with jazz, dynamic events, and a healthy dose of noir.
A key announcement, made via the game's official X page, confirms the absence of microtransactions: "MOUSE: P.I. For Hire will NOT contain microtransactions. We are creating a stunning single-player shooter full of noir atmosphere and explosive combat scenes that we put our hearts into creating." This commitment is notable, particularly within the indie single-player market where microtransactions are less prevalent, suggesting a deliberate strategy to attract players.
The game's distinctive aesthetic, drawing heavily from the rubber hose animation style popular in 1930s cartoons, creates a unique visual experience. Players will explore a gritty, noir-infused city teeming with mobs, gangs, and other unsavory characters. A diverse arsenal of weapons, power-ups, and explosives will be at your disposal as you take on corrupt politicians and fight for justice. Expect a humorous twist on classic FPS gameplay, thanks to whimsical weaponry, a unique health display, and cartoonish enemies.
While a precise release date remains unannounced, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is slated for release sometime in 2025.
