inZOI game director, Hyungjun Kim, recently revealed intriguing details about an upcoming Karma system that introduces a paranormal twist to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine whether deceased Zois transition to the afterlife or remain as ghosts.

According to Kim's February 7, 2025 Discord post, a Zoi's karma score at the time of death dictates their fate. High karma leads to the afterlife, while low karma results in a ghostly existence until sufficient karma is regained. The exact methods for restoring karma points remain undisclosed.

Kim assures players that ghost interactions will be carefully balanced to avoid overshadowing the core gameplay. In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to specific times and circumstances, primarily through unique conversations.

A sponsored video by MadMorph in August 2024 offered a brief preview of the Karma Interaction system. This system allows Zois to perform various actions, both good and bad, impacting their karma score. Examples shown included a humorous "secret fart" interaction and the option to perform good deeds like disposing of trash or liking a friend's post.

While the Early Access release (March 28, 2025 on Steam) will focus on the living Zois, Kim expressed interest in expanding upon the fantasy elements of the Karma system in future updates. He sees this as a way to enhance the game's simulation of life's complexities.

The anticipation builds as inZOI's Early Access launch approaches, promising a unique blend of realism and paranormal intrigue.
