Jak & Daxter: Precursor Basin Power Cells Guide

After completing your first full Zoomer level in Fire Canyon, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy presents a less perilous yet more challenging vehicle level: Precursor Basin. Though less life-threatening for the duo, its intricate objectives make it harder to master than Fire Canyon.

The basin throws multiple driving tests at players, from setting racecourse records to navigating floating rings and aggressive Green Eco gardening. Those aiming for a full trophy collection must perfect their Zoomer skills to gather every hidden item in the area.

Herd the Moles Back to Their Burrows

The challenges start simple—herd the blind moles scattered across the basin's first section back to their holes. The best method? Charging at them with the Zoomer to scare them into retreating. Use sharp hop-turns to stay on their tails and guide all four home. Return to the Rock Village Geologist afterward to claim a Power Cell—but why leave just yet? There's more to tackle here.

Chase Down the Elusive Flying Lurkers

In the same area as the moles, Flying Lurkers flee upon spotting the Zoomer. To complete this task, ram them mid-flight—no easy feat, given their erratic paths. The trick? Intercept them at turns (like those shown in the images) to take them down. The final one drops a Power Cell as a reward.

Race Against the Clock in The Gorge

The village gambler needs help recouping losses by beating the Gorge's record time. This short but demanding course lies near the basin entrance—follow the right wall to find it.

The target is 45 seconds, achievable once Zoomer controls click. Right off the start, a Lurker bump teaches a useful trick: hitting them propels the Zoomer higher. Shortly after, two pillars flank Blue Eco—thread between them for a speed boost. Beware: a sharp turn follows immediately. Keep left, then hop-turn right to scale the upcoming slope.

Climb to the upper track, dodging moving pistons and snatching Blue Eco mid-tunnel. Dark Eco crates line the left and right—stick to the center to avoid damage. Near the pit, execute a hop-180° turn to land cleanly on the next stretch. Grab the side Blue Eco if needed.

After the pistons, a risk-reward choice awaits. Launch off a Lurker for an aerial shortcut (and more Blue Eco) or take the slower, safer right path. Hug the left to bypass more Dark Eco, then weave past final pistons to the finish. Beat the time for a Power Cell—or push for sub-40 seconds to earn a bonus trophy.

Retrieve the Lake-Suspended Power Cell

Spotting the floating Power Cell is easy; reaching it demands precision. Start at the slope shown (familiar from Lurker chases), cross a narrow bridge, and hop between islands (images 2 & 3). Use the second island’s ramp (image 4) to reach a sloping path. Halfway up, pivot 180°, then launch off the top toward three islands (image 5). At the final pair, speed-jump toward the Orb to claim it.

Purge the Dark Eco-Corrupted Plants

A calming breather after high-speed trials: soak up Green Eco and plow through purple plants to cleanse them. They regenerate if delayed, but steady pacing and sharp hop-turns keep them at bay. Refuel at the Green Eco Vent if needed. A few laps nets a Power Cell.

The Purple Ring challenge sequences aerial rings—each triggers the next upon contact. While simpler than its blue counterpart, watch for the midair ring off a natural bridge (pictured). Leap fearlessly; the next ring lands safely below. Later, dodge a pit mid-track—the final ring ends the trial with a Power Cell.

Far trickier than the purple set, the blue rings start near the lake Power Cell slope. Veer left/downward instead of climbing to find the first ring.

Key hurdles: - Pillar Loop: Circle it, then hit three rings while reversing toward the lake. The highest requires a rock-hop boost. - Post-Trans-pad: After archway re-entry, bounce off a hill to strike an airborne ring. - Lake Crossing: Post-ring, turn right around a pillar, then left for another. Stay sharp—rings spawn sequentially. - Narrow Climbs: After lake-edge rings, ascend slopes carefully, skirting holes on thin paths.

The finale: a slope-top ring grants the Power Cell after a winding route.

Collect All 7 Scout Flies

Scout Fly boxes hide throughout. Grab all seven for a Power Cell: 1. Near the Mole Hole (pictured). 2. Atop the slope (first image). 3. Right of the narrow bridge (near a purple ring). 4. On the raised platform with a central hole (first image). 5. Below it—drop through the hole. 6. Across the three islands (lake Power Cell route). 7. Beside the first Blue Precursor Ring.
