DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting in May 2025, bringing acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC.

Slott, known for his work on Marvel titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity. His previous DC credits include Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures. This new series pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo.

Slott states, "He’s the greatest superhero, and I've waited my whole life to tell his stories. Rafael and I will take Superman—and you—to incredible places. Millions of ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic villains, and brand-new characters. Whether you're a lifelong fan or a newcomer, Superman Unlimited #1 is the perfect entry point."

Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower leaves Superman facing enemies wielding Kryptonite-enhanced weapons. This necessitates new technology and fighting strategies. Simultaneously, Clark Kent confronts a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia giant after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, stating that Superman Unlimited will deliver classic Superman adventures while introducing a massive new Kryptonite deposit. He describes a world where even petty crimes involve Kryptonite weaponry, creating unprecedented danger for Superman and his allies.

Kaminski further notes the contrast with the recently launched Justice League Unlimited, highlighting Superman Unlimited's focus on super-villains empowered by the widespread Kryptonite. He emphasizes the innovative storyline and Albuquerque's stunning artwork, promising an exciting 2025 for Superman fans.

A 10-page prelude story will appear in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 (May 3, 2025), preceding Superman Unlimited #1 (May 21, 2025), shortly before James Gunn's Superman film release (July 11, 2025).
