Unlocking Multiple Pets in Stardew Valley

Initially, you can adopt one pet. The 1.6 update introduced the ability to have multiple pets. To unlock this, you must maximize your friendship level with your existing pet. Daily care is key: fill their water bowl (except on rainy/snowy days) and pet them to trigger a heart bubble. Monitor their friendship level via the "Animals" tab in the pause menu. Once maxed out, Marnie will contact you about adopting additional pets (or at the start of Year 2 if you initially skipped pet adoption).

After receiving Marnie's message, visit her shop (9 AM - 4 PM, closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Select the "Adopt Pets" option. You'll find twelve pet licenses: five cat variations, five dog variations, and two turtle types. Each license has a cost:
