Nintendo Alarm Clock Release Precedes GTA 6 Anticipation

Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Mysterious Switch Online Playtest

Forget your 2024 predictions; Nintendo has launched a gaming-themed alarm clock! The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, priced at $99, uses game sounds to rouse you from slumber. Imagine waking to the sounds of Mario, Zelda, or Splatoon – a truly immersive experience. Further free sound updates are promised.

The Alarmo's unique selling point? Its interactive nature. It won't stop until you're out of bed, rewarding your early rise with a "victory fanfare." While you can temporarily quiet the alarm with a hand wave, prolonged slumber only increases the volume. This innovative design uses a radio wave sensor to detect movement without compromising privacy, functioning even in darkness or around obstacles.

Early access is available for Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada via the My Nintendo Store, with in-person purchases also possible at the Nintendo New York store (while supplies last).

Simultaneously, Nintendo is conducting a Switch Online playtest. Applications open October 10th (8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET) and close October 15th (7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET), or earlier if the 10,000 participant limit is reached. This first-come, first-served opportunity is open to US, UK, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese players with an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership and who are at least 18 years old (as of October 9th, 3:00 PM PDT). The playtest itself runs from October 23rd to November 5th, 2024.
