Omori Digital Release Only in Europe

Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has cancelled the physical release of the game for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The cancellation, announced on Twitter (X), cites technical difficulties related to multilingual European localization.

While the publisher offered no further details beyond the initial announcement regarding the specific localization issues, the cancellation follows a series of delays. Initial listings showed a March 2023 release, later pushed to December 2023, then March 2024, and finally January 2025 before the ultimate cancellation. Pre-orders through retailers like Amazon were impacted by these repeated postponements.

This news is a significant disappointment for European fans, as it prevents the official release of a physically-available version in Spanish and other European languages. While the game is available digitally, those seeking a physical copy must now resort to importing a US version.

Omori, an RPG about a young boy named Sunny coping with trauma, originally launched on PC in December 2020. It expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022, but the Xbox version was subsequently removed due to an unrelated issue involving a previously sold T-shirt design.
