Pine: A Story of Loss Cuts Deep into Grief with a Woodworker's Tale

Pine: A Story of Loss, a poignant interactive story and video game from Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games, is now available on Android. This touching journey with the protagonist features art reminiscent of titles like Monument Valley.

A Journey Through Grief, Memory, and Hope

Pine: A Story of Loss presents a simple yet profound narrative. You play as a woodworker residing in a beautifully illustrated forest clearing, seemingly tending his garden and gathering wood. However, beneath the surface lies deep grief. Memories of his deceased wife frequently interrupt his routine, leading to bittersweet flashbacks. Instead of suppressing these memories, he crafts them into small wooden keepsakes, attempting to preserve the lost love.

This wordless, interactive short story, easily completed in a single session, allows players to deeply connect with the protagonist's emotions. Happy memories are relived through charming puzzles and mini-games, and the carvings created offer a glimmer of hope.

The game's stunning hand-drawn art by Tom Booth (who has collaborated with DreamWorks, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Supercell, and HarperCollins) is a clear highlight. Created in collaboration with programmer Najati Imam, the game aims for a deeply personal and affecting experience.

Will You Embrace This Moving Experience?

Beyond its captivating visuals, the game boasts a fitting soundtrack and immersive sound design. The absence of dialogue is compensated by the sounds of rustling leaves, creaking wood, and a moving musical score, all contributing to the overall atmosphere.

If you appreciate games that prioritize emotional storytelling and immersive experiences, Pine: A Story of Loss is worth exploring. It's available on the Google Play Store for $4.99.
