Pokémon GO Event Debuts Highly Anticipated Feature

Pokemon GO Fashion Week: Remote Raid Passes in Shadow Raids!

Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event introduces a highly anticipated feature: remote raid pass functionality for Shadow Raids! For the first time, trainers can participate in Shadow Raids remotely, from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time. This limited-time opportunity allows access to one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids.

This exciting addition to the game offers players a chance to catch Pokémon with significantly higher Individual Values (IVs) during Shadow Raids. The event even extends this remote raid access to the special Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. local time), boosting the odds of encountering a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and enabling the teaching of the Sacred Fire charged attack. Furthermore, players can utilize Charged TMs to remove the Frustration move from their Shadow Pokémon.

While this is a temporary feature, ending after Fashion Week, it addresses a long-standing player request since the introduction of Shadow Raids in 2023. The community has voiced concerns about the in-person requirements for challenging raids, particularly Dynamax and Gigantamax battles. Whether this trial run will lead to permanent remote raid pass access for Shadow Raids remains to be seen. However, this limited-time event offers a significant improvement to accessibility and raid participation for many trainers.
