Early Access games, like Path of Exile 2, are prone to bugs. One such bug prevents players from using skill points, displaying a frustrating "Requirements Not Met" message despite seemingly meeting all requirements. This guide outlines solutions to this issue.

What Causes the "Requirements Not Met" Bug in Path of Exile 2?

Players report receiving the "Requirements Not Met" message when attempting to allocate skill points to unlock passive abilities, even when adjacent nodes are unlocked. Whether this is a genuine bug or an intricate game mechanic remains unclear. Regardless, a solution is needed to progress.

Fixing the "Requirements Not Met" Bug in Path of Exile 2

Several fixes have been reported by players. Let's explore them:

Verify Skill Point Types

As you progress, Path of Exile 2 introduces different skill point types (Skill Points, Weapon Set I, Weapon Set II, and eventually Ascendancy Points). The "Requirements Not Met" error might occur if you're trying to use the wrong type of point for a specific node. Check the top-right corner of your screen for your point breakdown to ensure you have the correct type.

Resetting Skill Points

A potential cause is a discrepancy in Weapon Set passive points. The solution involves resetting your skill points. Visit "The Hooded One" in Clearfell Encampment (unlocked after completing "The Mysterious Shade" quest). This NPC is designed for respeccing, but effectively resolves this bug for many players. Refunding points and reallocating them often resolves the issue. While time-consuming, it's currently the most reliable fix.

Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
