A real-time strategy game based on the Resident Evil universe has been revealed for iPhone and Android, crafted in "close collaboration with Capcom to guarantee authenticity and quality."
Resident Evil Survival Unit is jointly developed by Joycity Corporation, a South Korean mobile game studio previously known for Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War—another licensed real-time strategy adaptation.
A full unveiling of Survival Unit is scheduled next week, but for now, a single artwork released today hints subtly at the game's environment.
In an appropriately dark and unsettling mood, a vehicle sits halted in the woods next to a billboard advertising—unsurprisingly—the Umbrella Corporation. The poster depicts two cheerful individuals alongside the slogan: "Our Business is life itself..."
The presence of Umbrella probably sets Resident Evil Survival Unit before the timeline of Resident Evil 4, by which time the sinister organization had already collapsed. The forested area may be near the Arklay Mountains, close to Raccoon City—a mountain range faintly visible in the backdrop supports that possibility.
A real-time strategy shooter could easily utilize the events and settings of the Resident Evil series, where squads of STARS operatives—beloved characters by the fanbase—are directed and managed while you strive to keep them alive.

According to an accompanying press release, Survival Unit is "designed to attract both longtime fans and newcomers," implying the inclusion of recognizable faces or locations.
And with the main series returning to Raccoon City in Resident Evil Requiem—reportedly continuing the Umbrella narrative—there’s no better moment to revisit the origins of the iconic saga.
Resident Evil Survival Unit will release in Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe, and Asia, with publishing handled by Aniplex, an anime firm and Sony subsidiary. Further information will be shared during an online showcase, streaming on YouTube July 10.
