In a recent interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, discussed CD Projekt Red's initial concerns about integrating a sprawling narrative into an open-world environment.

Tomaszkiewicz noted the bold undertaking of merging extensive storytelling, typically found in linear RPGs like The Witcher 2, with the freedom of an open world. He highlighted the risk CD Projekt Red took, a gamble that ultimately resulted in the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3.
Now leading the team at Rebel Wolves, Tomaszkiewicz is overseeing the development of The Blood of Dawnwalker. This dark fantasy title, set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe, centers around vampires.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While a release date remains unannounced, a gameplay reveal is anticipated this summer.
