ININ Games Acquires Shenmue III Publishing Rights: Xbox and Switch Ports Possible?

The long-awaited possibility of Shenmue III arriving on new platforms is closer than ever, thanks to ININ Games' recent acquisition of the game's publishing rights. This development has sparked excitement among fans, especially those hoping for Xbox and Nintendo Switch releases.
Expanding Shenmue III's Reach
Originally a PlayStation 4 exclusive (released in 2019, also available on PC), Shenmue III's availability has been limited. ININ Games, known for its multi-platform releases of classic titles, could potentially broaden the game's audience significantly. The acquisition suggests a strong likelihood of ports to platforms like Xbox and Switch. The game is currently available digitally and physically on PS4 and PC.
Ryo's Journey Continues

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, Shenmue III continued the saga of Ryo Hazuki and Shenhua, as they pursue the truth behind Ryo's father's murder. This Unreal Engine 4-powered adventure blends classic gameplay with modern visuals, offering a captivating experience. While Steam reviews show a "Mostly Positive" rating (76%), some players have voiced concerns about controller-only gameplay and late Steam key delivery. Despite these issues, the demand for an Xbox and Switch release remains high.
A Shenmue Trilogy on the Horizon?

ININ Games' history of reviving classic titles and its current collaboration with HAMSTER Corporation (releasing Taito games in a physical/digital bundle on December 10th) further fuels speculation. With Shenmue I and II already available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One (since August 2018), the possibility of a complete Shenmue trilogy under ININ Games' umbrella is a very real and exciting prospect, although not yet officially confirmed. This acquisition significantly increases the chances of this becoming a reality.
