Twenty-two games will be withdrawn from the PlayStation Plus game library next month. Notable titles include Grand Theft Auto V, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final remaining playable versions of Sony's first-party classics, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is the online gaming subscription service for PlayStation consoles. It offers free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. Subscribers to the Extra and Premium tiers also gain access to a vast library of hundreds of current and classic games.
As reported by Push Square, the removal of 22 titles scheduled for May 20 includes two major first-party PS3 games from Sony, both slated to depart the PS Plus Premium catalog.

This is significant because Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the final way to play them, unless you own physical copies and a functional PS3 console. Both games are being removed less than a year after their addition to the service in late 2024.
The Resistance series is an alternate-history first-person shooter franchise developed by Insomniac Games following their work on Ratchet & Clank. Three mainline games were released on PS3 before the studio shifted focus to projects like Marvel's Spider-Man and new Ratchet & Clank titles.
While it's rare for Sony to remove its own first-party games from this service, it has happened before. A notable example is the surprising removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those titles remained available for purchase after their removal. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will become completely inaccessible on modern consoles.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will stay on the service. It's also important to note that the more recent first-party PS4 title, inFamous: Second Son, is also leaving PS Plus.
The Resistance series has been dormant for years. In February, Insomniac's founder and outgoing president, Ted Price, confirmed there was a serious effort to develop Resistance 4, but the project was ultimately not greenlit. Much like Guerrilla Games' Killzone series, the Resistance franchise has been left by the wayside.
