1047 Games, the creators of the hit multiplayer FPS Splitgate, are back with a sequel! Get ready for Splitgate 2 and the electrifying Sol Splitgate League.
Hilary Goldstein, Head of Marketing, added, "we rethought our approach to portals, aiming to create a game where skilled portal users can truly excel, without requiring constant portal use for success."

While specifics on gameplay remain under wraps, the developers confirmed Splitgate 2 will be built on Unreal Engine 5, remain free-to-play, and introduce a compelling "faction system." Expect a familiar feel, but with a completely fresh experience. The game is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Often described as "Halo meets Portal," Splitgate is a fast-paced arena PvP shooter where players strategically utilize wormholes to navigate maps and outmaneuver opponents. The original game’s success story is remarkable; a simple demo attracted 600,000 downloads in a month! Its popularity led to server upgrades to handle the massive player base. After a successful early access period, Splitgate officially launched on September 15, 2022. The developers then announced they would cease updates to focus on building "the game fans deserve"—a new game that would deliver "revolutionary, not evolutionary, changes."

The trailer showcased the Sol Splitgate League and introduced three distinct factions, promising "more depth to the gameplay experience." According to the Steam page, each faction offers unique playstyles: Aeros (dashing mobility), Meridian (tactical time manipulation), and Sabrask (brute force). While details are scarce, the developers confirmed Splitgate 2 will not be a hero shooter in the style of Overwatch or Valorant.

Gameplay details are currently under wraps, with a full reveal planned for Gamescom 2024 (August 21-25). However, the developers assure fans the trailer accurately represents the Splitgate 2 experience, highlighting real maps, weapons, portal effects, and the return of dual-wielding.

Splitgate 2 will not feature a single-player campaign. For lore enthusiasts, a mobile companion app will offer comics, character cards, and a faction quiz to help players discover their ideal alignment.
