Star Wars Outlaws unveils its first story expansion today with the A Pirate’s Fortune DLC, now available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The update owes its existence partly to fan-favorite scoundrel Hondo Ohnaka.
Drew Rechner, Creative Director at Ubisoft's Massive Entertainment, reveals the DLC emerged from his team's admiration for Hondo Ohnaka – the Weequay pirate previously featured in Darth Maul comics and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
"Given our team's enthusiasm, featuring Hondo was inevitable. The dynamic between protagonist Kay's rogue spirit and Hondo's pirate persona creates perfect synergy," Rechner told IGN.
"Kay's coming-of-age journey into leadership creates fascinating tension when paired with Hondo's questionable mentorship," Rechner added.
The expansion introduces new gameplay elements including confrontations with the Rokana Raiders gang, ship upgrades through the Miyuki Trade League, and a Shock blaster modification.
While confirming Star Wars Outlaws' Nintendo Switch 2 release slated for September 4, Rechner remained tight-lipped about platform-specific enhancements, promising future announcements.
"We'll share details about exclusive features at a later date," Rechner stated.
The Switch 2 version may potentially leverage the console's innovative controllers and GameChat functionality.
