The original Steam Deck is notorious for its poor battery life; the Steam Deck OLED offers marginal improvements, but still falls short of all-day usage. A reliable USB-C charger is essential to prevent power outages during crucial gameplay. Our top pick is the compact and fast-charging Anker 715 Charger. Whether you need a portable power bank, a budget-friendly option for the car or office, or a multi-port wall charger, we've got you covered.

0See it at AmazonA crucial Steam Deck accessory is a superior charger. The included 45W charger, with its fixed USB-C cable, is underwhelming. A 65W charger is ideal for maximizing charging speed, especially during gameplay. Other desirable features include a detachable USB-C cable, extra ports, and portability. We've curated five excellent Steam Deck chargers for home or travel. These chargers are also compatible with most handheld gaming PCs, smartphones, and other devices.
Best Overall### Anker 715 Charger

The Anker 715 Charger is significantly more compact (1.65x1.42x1.74 inches with foldable prongs), easily fitting into a bag. Its 65W output, achieved through GaN II technology, ensures the fastest possible charging speeds.
The Anker 715 isn't limited to the Steam Deck; it efficiently charges smartphones, tablets, and more. However, it only has one USB-C port, limiting simultaneous charging. A USB-C to USB-C cable is not included; consider Anker's inexpensive two-pack of high-speed USB-C cables.

The Jsaux 45W USB-C Power Delivery Charger is an excellent budget choice. For under $20, it offers a 45W max charging speed (same as the original charger), fully charging the Steam Deck in about 2.5 hours.
The Jsaux charger features a durable, flexible 5ft or 10ft USB-C cable and a 90-degree USB-C adapter for comfortable gaming while charging. It's also compatible with other USB-C devices, such as the Nintendo Switch. Jsaux also produces our favorite Steam Deck docking station.
Best Hybrid Option### Anker 733 Power Bank

Its foldable prongs deliver 65W as a wall charger. GaN technology ensures efficient charging and thermal protection.
In addition to the USB-C charger for the Steam Deck, it offers a second USB-C and a USB-A port. However, charging multiple devices reduces speed. Battery charging of the Steam Deck is limited to 30W. Expect at least one full Steam Deck charge from the 10,000mAh battery.
Best Power Bank### Anker 737 Power Bank

Its 24,000mAh capacity (near the TSA limit) provides approximately four full Steam Deck charges.
The high-capacity battery delivers 140W output via its two USB-C ports. While the Steam Deck won't reach these speeds, MacBooks and other laptops will benefit. An additional USB-A port allows simultaneous charging of three devices at 140W total. Power Delivery 3.1 and bi-directional technology enable fast recharging. Anker includes a USB-C to USB-C cable and a power display.
Best USB Hub### Ugreen Nexode 200W 6-Port GaN Charger
0See it at AmazonProduct SpecificationsTotal Output200WPorts2 x USB-C (100W), 2 x USB-C (65W), 2 x USB-A (10W)Size4.3” x 3.6” x 2.0”Weight1.14 poundsPROSCharges up to six devices simultaneously; four USB-C portsUSB-C ports offer up to 100W charging speedsCONSExpensiveThe Ugreen Nexode 200W 6-Port GaN Charger simultaneously charges up to six devices at 200W max. It features four USB-C and two USB-A ports; two USB-C ports deliver 100W charging, exceeding the Steam Deck's 65W capacity. It quickly charges iPads and some gaming laptops. Ugreen includes a 100W USB-C cable. Simultaneous charging reduces individual speeds.
Despite its multiple ports, the Ugreen charger remains compact, making it a portable USB charging hub. Four GaN chips minimize size and improve energy efficiency and heat management. Expect a higher price point for this versatile charger.
Consider price and at least one USB-C port. Budget options under $30 exist but usually have only one port. Higher budgets offer additional ports, faster charging, more durable builds, and features like GaN technology, advanced Power Delivery, and smart displays.
The Steam Deck's included 45W charger is a baseline. A 65W charger is optimal for fast charging, even during gameplay (which consumes roughly 15W). Higher wattage chargers are fine; the Steam Deck won't charge faster. For multi-device charging, a higher max output is beneficial.
Power banks or hybrid options are ideal for on-the-go use. Aim for at least a 10,000mAh battery capacity. Higher wattage ensures faster charging, although these options are generally larger.
After selecting a charger, ensure you have a USB-C cable supporting maximum charging speeds. For simultaneous charging and peripheral use (keyboard, mouse, monitor), consider a Steam Deck dock.
The original LCD Steam Deck's 40Whr battery lasts 7-8 hours maximum. In our review, God of War depleted the battery in 90 minutes at default settings. Lowering settings improves battery life, but a charger or power bank is essential. The Steam Deck OLED is more efficient, with a 50Whr battery offering up to 12 hours of playtime (30–50% improvement over the LCD model, confirmed in our testing).
The Steam Deck's maximum charging speed is 65W. Higher wattage chargers are acceptable; the Steam Deck will only charge at its maximum rate. Lower wattage chargers will increase charging time.
