Independent game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS combat mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations add a layer of tactical depth to the gameplay.
Players use in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization is available through crafting weapons and armor. These items significantly impact unit stats, including range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource gathering is key to this customization. Players must collect resources like wood, leather, and coal within their village to craft items. Visit the blacksmith, magician, and other village specialists to create these essential upgrades.
Frenken's previous title, Herodom, enjoys a 4.6 App Store rating. Boasting over 55 collectible heroes, 150 units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles, Herodom also offers unlockable hairstyles, bodies, crops, and farm animals.
