DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming; First Look Revealed
Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. DC Studios head James Gunn shared a first look image via Bluesky, showcasing Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the director's chair as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.

Gunn expressed his excitement, confirming Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) as the director, a fact previously reported last April. The film is heavily based on Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's acclaimed graphic novel of the same name. This standalone story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl who seeks Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel received an Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series" in 2022.
Casting announcements include Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and the previously announced Jason Momoa as Lobo.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the rebooted DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman movie slated for release this summer. Other projects in development include The Batman Part II (whose connection to the Gunn-led universe remains unclear) and a rumored Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
