Hello fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's showcase was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases. That makes for a busy Wednesday! We'll cover the news, review the new eShop additions, and highlight the latest sales. Let's dive in!
Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games
Nintendo's decision to present two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While a full recap isn't feasible here, key highlights include surprise game launches (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I strongly recommend watching the full video for a complete overview.
A fantastic surprise! This third Castlevania compilation features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously difficult arcade game, Haunted Castle, along with an improved M2 remake. The emulation is superb, offering a fantastic value for the price.
This Wario Land-inspired platformer is a fast-paced thrill ride. Conquer five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will adore this, but even those new to the style will find it highly enjoyable. A review is pending.
Another surprise release! As you'd expect, it's more chaotic goat shenanigans in an open world. Performance on the Switch is a potential concern, so proceed with caution. The inherent silliness might even complement any performance issues. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide if the goofy goat action is worth the risk.
For fans of Peggle, this is a must-have. It cleverly blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. Available on mobile for some time, the Switch port is just as polished. A full review is coming soon.
Kairosoft's latest simulation game uses the popular Doraemon license to add a fresh coat of paint to their familiar formula. The game does a good job of integrating the characters, even featuring cameos from the manga artist's other works.
More Pico Park fun for existing fans. Up to eight players can enjoy local or online multiplayer cooperative puzzle-solving. While not drastically different from the first game, it's a solid addition for those who enjoyed the original.
A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio. Simple yet enjoyable, especially considering the price.
A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing challenges.
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles await. Utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve puzzles, either solo or with up to four players locally or online.
